boring old hammerdin question

i have a question about how blessed hammers interact with the concentration aura:

i run a non-enigma hdin through the game currently and from time to time i meet packs i cannot dismantle easily. so usually my tactic is to lay two or three hammers and the run in a manner that the pack runs into the hammer field. now to the actual question:

do the hammers receive the aura bonus while i cast them or while they hit?

should i only keep the aura active while i cast them or also while they hit?

to be honest i might be able to test this myself, but whenever i actually have to use this tactic (and this is the only time i really think about this question) i am in imminent danger of dying, quickly.
