Suggestions regarding Zealadin

Well, first of all, hi!

Im currently thinking about making a paladin, i usually play alone, rarely i play with 1 or 2 friends ( one a javazon, the other a martial sin whose build i made for him). The thing is, i want a Paladin that's able to solo Hell diff with a certain amount of ease. Im not interested even a lil' bit on Hammerdins, not saying that they are weak ( as they really aren't ), but i find them so boring, and i already have a CL/FO sorceress on NM, so gear/runes won't be a problem, at least for now. (which means i can rely on a decent beatstick to lay the damage)

So, what do you guys suggest for a semi-twinked Zeal paladin:

1: Pure Zealadin (Zeal, Fanaticism)

2: Elemental Zeal (Tesla , Frost, or TeslaFrost) [heard those had problems on hell, don't know if its true]

3: Some sort of build including Convic, or Vengeance, dunno.

4: Anything else?

Thanks in advance.|||Welcome to the forums

It will depend mostly on what you can get...

Besides a zeal/convic pali with dual dreams which is way too expensive, zealots (given a decent weapon like Oath) are probably the strongest build. I don't like them for their inability to handle immunes though. Reaper's toll on the merc goes some way towards solving that, but I much prefer using holy shock with a synergised zeal (so 20 points zeal, sacrifice, holy shock and resist light, salvation isn't worth it imo). You can use Crescent Moon for its -35 light res, I would recommend something with more physical damage like Oath*. Regardless of what aura you choose Grief is the best choice, but you'll need a Lo for that.

Tesla/frost is great as well but more of an untwinked build I would say. Here you can be really cheap and use a phaseblade with shael and eth runes, imo Crescent Moon fits this build nicely: Lots of lightning damage and a good backup in holy freeze, plus you'll have decent physical damage to leech off. Or if you're rich you can use Doom on switch :P

The Avenger (vengeance/convic) is a build I've always loved, although in practice they attack too slowly and are a bit squishy :< I wouldn't try one without good equipment...

*Something I forgot: Crushing blow. If you can get something like Guillaume's Face and Gores then raw physical damage isn't as important and you can use Crescent Moon while still taking down the light immunes pretty quickly. Gloams are still a pain with their 90% physical resist D:|||So, for me, it boils down to two builds: The pure zealot and Holy Shock + Backup Melee.

Im more inclined to the Pure Zealot, but isn't really any way to deal with immunes?

And, if i go the Shock+synergized zeal, will my damage fall way behind or no? and what about Light immunes?|||Reaper's Toll (used on merc) has a chance to cast decripify which will break most physical immunes. To own undead phys immunes you can use Azurewrath on switch for it's Sanctuary aura or spend 5 points to put a point into it yourself. The only prob then is those hell witches in wsk level 3 but they can be ignored. If going Zealot I would go for Reaper's and a self-spent point in sanctuary (1 point is enough and well worth it).

Synergised zeal with a might merc plus your points in strength will easily get you past 700% ED, Fanat adds a very substantial 500% to this plus some AR and lots of IAS. If you can get Fortitude (costs Lo) then Fanat's influence become relatively low compared to what holy shock can offer.|||So, if i follow the way of the Tesla, something around this (core):

20 Zeal

20 Holy Shock

20 Resist Light

20 Sacrifice

How many points should i put in Holy Shield and Defiance? any other utility skills?|||Vigor and redemption are nice but not must-haves. If you go for those it might be worth it to hold 5 or so points back (from sacrifice or resist light) so you can put some into holy shield earlier on.
