Zealot weapons for leveling?

Hello All,

Long time D2 player coming back to the game for the 4th or 5th time. I want to start a zealot and i've reviewed some guides and I think I have a grasp on end game gear. But what is some good gear to use while leveling? Especially weapons.

Thanks|||Basically the highest dps weapon you can find. Some stand out off the top of my head:

Very low levels: robo weapons (socketables with damage gems inside)

Low levels: 'Strength'

Mid levels: Butcher's Pupil, 'Black'

High levels: Azurewrath (though this one is end-game worthy and somewhat expensive), Lightsabre, Windhammer, Baranar's Star|||If you know what mods to look for on end-game gear, you should be able to browse the arreat summit to find what you need to level. Download RuneWord Wizard (everyone should have this) to see which runewords are available at what level and which bases to look out for.

Good place to start: http://classic.battle.net/diablo2exp...l/uarmor.shtml|||The General's Tan-do-li-ga (is that right?) is super at low levels, especially vs. anything that can kick your butt in melee.|||Its hard to argue with butcher's. Does more damage than other exceptional uniques and runewords, is decently fast, it just works|||Steel is a very good deal, too.

Stick one in a falchion and it takes you as far as late a3 in norm.|||i think a flail is a better option for that though.. fast and good damage and in a2 shoppable|||Malice

3 Socket Melee Weapons

Ith + El + Eth

+33% Enhanced Damage

+9 To Maximum Damage

100% Chance Of Open Wounds

-25% Target Defense

-100 To Monster Defense Per Hit

Prevent Monster Heal

+50 To Attack Rating

Drain Life -5

To counter the -5 life use: Manald Heal or Angelic Halo as they both give Replenish Life. Or you can just find a replenish life mod on a ring.

It doesn't have any IAS on it, but 3 OS melee weapons, means that it can be put into anything.

Axes

Maces

Scepters

Really though when you're building your zealot, going PvM don't worry about speed as much, but damage. Let fanaticism do the work once you have reached level 30, or if you happen to run by some IAS gloves. It also depends on how poor you are. Here's my lower end guide:

Middle Zealot|||Full Cleglaws Set is what I use until lvl 40 or so. It gives good Crushing Blow, Deadly Strike and dmg per level. Plus, it has lower lvl req that most runewords. After that I may have found a better unique, like Butcher's Pupil. Even Hexfire is useful for a while with its Ignore Target Defense and it seems to drop alot.|||With Cleglaw's you waste a shield and glove space...

Defense: 25-27 (varies)(Base Defense: 8-10)

Required Level: 4

Required Strength: 22

Durability: 16

Paladin Smite Damage: 2 to 3

Chance to Block: Pal: 35%

Poison Length Reduced by 75%

+17 Defense

All Resistances +15 (2 Items)

It's just not a very good set item, especially if you're going at it alone, if you're level 40 and haven't found a better shield or gloves by then you may want to rethink the character. ^^

The Malice can be set in any 3os Melee weapons and has extremely easy to find runes. It is one of THE best LL weapons out there, in fact ghostins use them in their claws... OWs does a lot more damage than you may think.

Not to mention Knockback is ridiculous for zealots.
