About Zealot Weapons

Ok, so I've read most of the Zealot guides, the various threads around the place, and Ive got a certain idea about what weapons a Zealot should use, but what is the difference between them? When would a Grief PB be better off than a BotD Zerker? When would someone use Death? Is there an "Ultimate" Zealot weapon? (Like Faith is to a PvP Bowazon/Ice to a Frostmaiden)

I currently have a 5 OS Phase Blade in storage and can get access to the various other weapons, I'm just not sure if it's worth it.

I'm narrowing it down to these 4 Weapons of Choice:

BotD Ethereal Berserker Axe/War Spike

Last Wish Berserker Axe/War Spike/Phase Blade (?)

Death Berserker Axe/War Spike/Phase Blade (?)

Grief Phase Blade

I tend to like War Spikes better for the Base Attack Speed on it, but if a Zerker comes up I'll take it too. Regarding Phase Blades, is it worth making any of them Runewords other than Grief? The low base damage on it was a little turn off, Im not sure if this affects my Zeal damage though.

Also, in regards to Grief, how exactly does this work with Zeal? Ive been told that the damage on the LCS is false when equipped with Grief, however the damage dealt to others is correct? Does the +damage on Grief apply to both Minimum and Maximum attack? For eg. Phase Blade is 31-35 Base damage, will a Grief Phase actually do 431-435 (with a Perfect Grief)?

Sorry for all the questions, I just dont want to make a mistake with this character's equipment. >.<

Thanks!|||The Grief +damage adds the damage just like you thought it did which makes it a godly item. Its +damage makes it far superior to any weapon with ED in terms of pure damage calculations. Last Wish is a good choice although it's mods are more geared for ubering with its CB, LT and CTC Fade.

imo Grief PB > All

If you are doing PVM I would also advise you do not make a Grief BA even though you'll get more damage the repair costs will be insane especially with the faster durability loss when using zeal. Also PBs are indestructable so you never need to worry about repair costs. If PvP go with the BA for better range.|||One thing I like about zealers is they have so many different stuff to choose from. My personal fav weapons are ethereal death cleaver and death zerker, but I also like botd, eth razors edge, eth up'd headstriker, eth heavens light 'ZodLo'.|||When it comes to pvp zealots, there isn't one weapon to rule them all really, like faith does for pvp bowazons. Grief is the closest it gets to this, and it is the best zealot weapon. Good ones are also the etheral 5os runemaster,etheral death cleaver, ebotd (i prefer zerk for the damage), eth death war spike (this rw doesn't offer ias) and eth oath zerk.|||What it all comes down to, pretty much, is sheer damage. War Spike is pretty much inferior to its alternatives just because you can easily make up for its better attack speed. Also, unless you're Pvp or want to shell out mucho mula for repairs (inane for a zealot), use a PB for anything that's not indestructible, i.e. LW, Grief. Here's the ideal of what you're looking at assuming you have a lvl 27 fanat and perfs:

Grief PB

31-35

+400 perf

431-435 (433 Ave. Dam.)

@ 4 fps stand alone

Pros: High damage, ITD

Con: Not a lot else

Botd Zerker

24-71

*1.5 eth

*5.15 perf

185-548 (366 Ave. Dam)

Pros: Good damage, leech, 30 all attributes

Cons: Less damage than the alternatives, No ITD

Eth Death Cleaver (Zod)

227-671 (449 Ave. Dam.)

@ 4 fps w/ 20 ias

Pros: Highest Damage, -33 target defense

Cons: No other good mods, No ITD (-33 is small compensation), requires 20 more ias for 4 fps, and w/ Highlords&Gore's can put excess DS to waste.

Last Wish PB (this depends on a lot, but we'll shoot for a rough sketch)

31-35

*4.75 perf

*1.17(Might: 1+(2.00[might]/(4.92[fanat]+3.66[zeal&sac]+3.00[fort]))

167-189 (178 Ave. Dam.)

@ 4 fps w/ 10 ias

Pros: A lot, Fade, Might for party, 70% CB, ITD, Life Tap(making it easier to use Phoenix instead of Exile potentially giving another +400% giving (237 Ave. Dam.).

Cons: A lot lower of damage.

It should be said that LW isn't good for the damage but for all the other things it provides you. If you're concerned w/Ubers LW is very capable with it's 70% CB, but for everyday monsters it might not be as good as the rest.

Eth Death

33-66 Ettin (Requires 80 ias)

24-71 Zerker (Requires 60 ias)

30-48 War Spike (Requires 40 ias)

*4.85 perf

*1.5 eth

*1.49 clvl 99 DS

Ettin: 357-715 (536 Ave. Dam.)

Zerker: 260-769 (514 Ave. Dam.) IMO best option

WS: 325-520 (422 Ave. Dam.)

Pros: Great Damage, 50% CB, Mana Leech

Cons: No ITD, requires ias(varies)

Eth Oath Zerker

This weapon parallels BotD in most respects but falls a little bit short in all of them. So it doesn't need to be mentioned to determine how it contends. Summary: Good but it's easy to see that it doesn't match up.

Eth 5os Runemaster (Zod, 4x40/15ias)

33-66

*5.30 Perf+Jewels

*1.5 Eth

262-524 (393 Ave. Dam.)

@ 4 fps w/ 20 ias

Pros: Decent Damage, Cannot Be Frozen

Cons: Lack of other mods, requires 20 more ias



So, in summary, it depends on what you want. Sheer damage goes to Death, but you're more dependent on gear. LW is low damage but the extra goodies make it certainly considerable. Runemaster and Oath are both good, but they don't quite make the grade.

So consider it like spectrum with damage on one side and extra goodies and more gear flexibility on the other. It would look like this.

So, it truly is up to your own play style a wants. Hope this helps.|||For pvp ,grief pb has insane speed, -25% target's defense from eth,huge and consistent damage, a touch of fire damage (stun effect?) ,some poison and a nice 20 DS. For pvm it has itd too. The perfect weapon for all purpose.

Last wish has mediocre damage for both pvp and pvm. It has all sorts of goodies that would make it the ultimate weapon if we were forced to play the game with only the weapon slot covered and no other items. But it is not played like this, so lw is lower on the food chain. I prefer it in a BA, a phase blade has too low zeal damage,period.

Death is a similar case with Lw but if you make it in an eth weapon ,this thing is really damaging because it has good ds as well. Pity for the lack of ias.

EDC is a pvp weapon and a good one for that matter, check that ds and -33% defense. Probably the second best together with eth runemaster behind grief.

Ebotd is a jack of both trades too. Loses to grief/death for pvm and grief/edc/erunemaster for pvp , but holds its own in both.|||sad to say, i agree on the ebotd comments

Just rolled a 37/388 Grief PB which I was pretty happy with, I'll look into getting spare and other weapons (I like to keep my options open when it comes to choosing weapons).

Nope. Dunno where you heard that one.

You put people in Hit Recovery when you hit them for more than 1/12 damage. E.G. a Barb with 6000 life needs to be hit for more than 500 damage to be put into FHR animation.

I doubt very much that 5-30 fire damage is going to contribute at all towards this, especially with an attack with 4k+ damage per hit.|||Grief I Sbest Hands Down
