Dealing with Magic Immunes

My first hammerdin after all these years...

Anyway, things are going well, but I'm having trouble with the magic immunes (specifically Hell, Baal's minions).

What is the basic strategy here? My merc is taking too long to kill them (he wears Fortitude and wields a Eth Cryptic Axe Insight).

Holy Bolt works a bit but it sure takes a lot to take them down.

I followed Giga's guide for the most part as far as skills, stats, equip.

Thanks|||Are you using 1 point holy bolt or something? I've never had a real problem with wave 2 + holy bolt with all skill points after maxing bh synergies.

Some options:

Hit the 125 fcr breakpoint if you're at 75 fcr, giving you more dps with holy bolt.

Divert points into Holy Bolt that you don't need for hammers: get 8k or 9k hammers with as many pcombs as you can stand to have in inventory, then pump holy bolt instead of hammer synergies.

Start using redemption for mana & give the merc an ebotd war pike + guillaume's.

Try smiting with a grief phase blade.|||Add more skill points into Holy Bolt. 1 point Holy Shield works just fine with +skills for me. If you do a lot of Baal runs, the extra points in holy bolt will make a bigger difference than a little bit of life.|||Thanks patch 1.13; I never thought I'd see the day a hammerdin would post a topic on how to deal with immune monsters

Basically you do what sorcs do, let your merc handle it and use a skill they aren't immune to. I've seen a guy use a "real weapon" (zerker I think) CTA + hoz on his swap and he would zeal the mobs to death. between his might merc, his +skills and concentration aura, he did pretty well at clearing wave 2.|||1p smite / zeal + astreon's as a permament mainhand.|||Fort scepter+zeal would work better for a main hand solution. FCR/Skills/enough damage|||play something other then a hammerdin...:b and you already have 1 pt into smite...so have a nice smite weapon/sheild combo on switch and you don't have to touch anything...
