Which Merc for Smiter is the BEST?

anyone can help me out in here?

I have few problems with the merc....dunno Combat, Offensive, Defensive should I choose.

And Also what gear is the BEST for merc?

|||gonna need a little bit more info there... what gear have you got atm? What are you lacking in? What is your playing style, where do you play? ie are you ubering? Pvp? baalrunning? are you playing ladder/NL/SP? etc.|||Gear:

Helm- Crown of Ages

Armor- Enigma Archon Plate

Belt- Verdungo's Hearty Cord

Weapon- Grief Phase Blade

Shield- Exile Vortex Shield (Ethereal)

Boot- Gore Rider

Amulet- Highlord's Wrath

Gloves- Dracul's Grasp

My Paladin go for uber. Im playing ladder|||Well, no merc realistically survives ubers.

Your gear is pretty obscenely top level anyway. The real question #1 is do you want a merc that will improve your damage, or someone that has good survivability? #2 which merc is best for this job?

I can throw out a few suggestions but there is no "right" answer. It all depends what you want out of life basically.

Possible ideas:

act 2 might with pride (conc and might). Your damage will be pretty ridiculous.

act 2 holy freeze with eth reapers with amn. Good survivability and can help crowd control

act 1 cold merc with ice bow. A1 mercs are quite good at staying out of trouble and ice has good elemental damage

act 5

since you have exile, you obviously do not need a def merc. However, that would have been the best option. Im sure with your gear, you have a nice eth bug forti for your merc too. The only thing I would say is to ditch the eni. You do NOT need it in pvp or pvm.

one option is to use metalgrid amulet (which will be very useful for you for its def, AR and resists.) to make iron golem out of an insight weapon....

Just a heads up, unlike using the iron golem skill with a necro, if you make a iron golem out of insight using item charges (ie metalgrid) the golem will not be there the next game you join.

Plus a iron golem will most likely die in trist (although I'm yet to try this).

Insight on a A2 merc would be the best bet if your needing the mana.|||Quote:

Using an insight to make a golem will give you the aura? If so, I never knew that. Thanks|||Either no merc or go for an act 2 merc with aura you want. Merc with ebotdwp, bugged fort, guillis face cham.|||I use a HF merc with reapers but I never bring him in for the ubers for Decripify cancels LT which is bad and he dies quick when up against maph -125 conviction anyways.
